Government entities are adopting artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency, drive innovation, and improve service delivery. Effective governance and oversight of the design, implementation, and use of the technology is crucial to protect the function of public sector entities and the rights of Queenslanders.
The Queensland Government published the Artificial intelligence governance policy and the Foundational artificial intelligence risk assessment framework in 2024. These aim to provide public sector entities with guidance to ensure AI risks are effectively managed throughout the AI system life cycle, including ethical risks.
This audit will assess whether the Queensland Government has policies and procedures in place to effectively manage ethical risks associated with AI systems.
