The councillor requested QAO conduct an audit of community facilities owned by Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The councillor would like the audit to identify and review the appropriateness of the levying and collection of income from council-owned facilities.
We responded to the councillor on 28 January 2021.
We advised the councillor that we will obtain more information about rental income from Cassowary Coast Regional Council properties as part of our annual financial audit process.
If we identify any significant matters, we will report these to the council, and may include them in a report to parliament.
Status
Completed – we have communicated several findings and recommendations to management. The findings were not significant and will not be included in a report to parliament.
