The member provided information in relation to the Cross River Rail (CRR) project and requested that QAO consider this information as part of our Major projects 2023 report.
The member raised concerns about:
- costs of complementary and associated works to be delivered by the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority
- budget allocations and costs for the European Train Control System (ETCS)
- land acquisition costs
- cost impacts on the business case.
We responded to the member on 8 March 2023.
We advised the member that we had assessed the information he provided and determined that it did not contain any information that was not previously considered as part of our ongoing audit of the CRR project.
We also advised the member that the Major Projects 2022 report outlines our consideration and assessment of several of the matters identified in his letter including:
- funding arrangements for the CRR and related projects
- implementation of the ETCS
- consideration of the business case for the CRR project.
Through our ongoing audit we will continue to assess the cost and future benefits of the CRR project and report on these in our annual major projects reports.
