The member requested that QAO review how the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) is planning the Coomera Connector Project, including its land acquisition processes.
The member’s letter included details about DTMR’s recent acquisition of 4 parcels of land as part of the Coomera Connector project.
We responded to the member on 17 September 2021.
We advised the member that we will make preliminary enquiries of DTMR to understand its acquisition processes for these 4 parcels of land.
We also advised the member that we have a number of infrastructure-related audits on our Forward work plan 2021–24 and we are not currently intending to perform an audit on how DTMR is planning this project more broadly.
Status
Completed – we reviewed DTMR’s acquisition of the 4 parcels of land against its Early Acquisition Policy. We did not identify any matters of significance to include in a report to parliament or any matters to report to management.
Infrastructure investment remains one of our key focus areas in our Forward work plan 2022–25. As such, we are planning to conduct several infrastructure-related audits over the next 3 years.
