Report 5: 2008
Report type
Biosecurity refers to “the management of risks associated with pests and diseases”4 and encompasses the areas of plants, animals, pests and weeds. Threats can be endemic, recently introduced or not yet present in Queensland. Appropriate management of threats and outbreaks is thus essential to maintaining Queensland’s natural environment and primary industries.
The objective of this audit was to determine whether adequate systems are in place to ensure efficient and effective preparedness for, response to, and management of plant and animal biosecurity threats to Queensland’s primary industries and environment.
